There are 2 reasons why this happens:
1. You have applied too much resin to the label which causes it to overflow. Remember Crystal Doming Resin is self levelling so it is important to not overload the label with resin and allow the resin to do the work. Only top up with resin if required to do so.
2: The surface upon which the labels are being domed on is not level. It is crucial to only start doming labels on a completely level surface. If you are using one of our high volume doming kits please see our tutorial video here which will give you information regarding levelling the base tray.
The main reason for failed domes at the beginning of a new cartridge is due to not setting up the cartridge correctly before use. When starting a new cartridge it is important to balance the pistons within the cartridge to ensure that both parts of the cartridge A & B are equal to each other. Click here to see our tutorial on setting up cartridges.
It is also important to ensure all air bubbles have been dispersed from the mixing tube as these will cause a improper mix which can result in failed domes.
When doming work slowly and do not speed through the artwork as this will ensure the resin is properly mixing while in use.
Tiny air bubbles within domes are normal. These air bubbles can be dispersed by gently applying heat from a short distance with our bubble remover torch. It is important to remove these prior to curing as leaving them in will result in the dome badge showing the bubble inside which cannot be removed.
Do not expose the domed label to excessive heat because you might cause the resin to fail or damage the labels.
At a room temperature of 25°C the curing time should be 12-24 hours.
We stock a wide range of spares for all the kits we supply. We may not always list the spare on our site. If you require a spare part that is not listed on our website please email – contact@dominglab.co.uk.
